Humanity First held it's first global 24 hour Telethon on Sunday 1st May 2016. Starting early morning in Indonesia, HF had a continuous live video fundraiser with teams in studios around the world presenting videos of our work, discussing future plans and engaging with donors, partners and viewers. From Indonesia, the show moved through Pakistan, Germany, France, UK, USA and finally Canada.
In total, the teams used six studios in three continents to broadcast from, sometimes with live links between countries and concurrent feeds to our global website and our Youtube video channel. For the first time, our global family was linked together in what became 'Humanity First Day'!!
Many partners joined us in studios or dialled in to discuss disaster response in Ecuador, new hospital and schools projects, water pump deployments, classroom transformation and a range of other key initiatives. As a way of gaining exposure, it was a success. As a fundraiser, it was our most successful event ever, raising over $1.2 million worldwide, with the USA leading the way, and then Canada, Germany, UK and Pakistan all raising sizable sums.
It would not have been possible without the literally hundreds of dedicated volunteers who used their weekends to film, edit, broadcast, present, answer call centre phones, cook, carry equipment and a wide range of equally important activities. We are very thankful to each and every one of them for making the Telethon the huge success that it was.
The recording of the live feed can still be viewed: HERE
