1992 - 1995 Bosnia War

Disaster Relief

In the summer of 1992, civil war in Bosnia which had just sought independence from Yugoslavia, led to ethnic cleansing and millions of refugees across Europe. Humanity First teams from the UK, Germany and Austria worked over 24,000 volunteer days to provide over 300 tonnes of emergency food, clothing and hygiene items to refugees in Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary. Aid also included tents, medication and medical treatment through volunteer doctors.

This was Humanity First's first operation, and the teams were able to assist over 20,000 people until the conflict was resolved in late 1995.
