Sierra Leone Ebola-Sanitation
Water For Life
After the Ebola viral outbreak that devastated Sierra Leone, HF deployed sanitation facilities in several primary schools in Waterloo, Port Loko, Lungi and elsewhere to train children in the importance of hygiene to combat a future viral outbreak. The toilet blocks have water plumbed in on tap so that children can wash their hands before returning to classes.
The children have been taught the importance of good hygiene to maintain health, and head teachers have been reporting that the habit has now stuck, and children largely wash their hands when going to the toilet.
